CIVIL LITIGATION
Our primary area of practice can be broadly described as civil litigation. What is that? Great question. In the simplest terms, this consists of non-criminal cases that are in court. Generally, these cases involve a person seeking money damages or asking the court to issue an order requiring a specific action be performed. For instance, an insurance company may be attempting to deny coverage, in which case a person would request a "declaratory judgment" against the insurer, requiring them to honor their bargain. The most common request, however, is a for a money judgment. The Law Office of Jason S. Matuskiewicz, P.C. has wide array of experience litigating civil matters.
PERSONAL INJURY
The first five years of my practice was dedicated exclusively to obtaining compensation for injured individuals. It was and is deeply satisfying to obtain the redress that clients deserve when they suffer harm due to the negligence of others. The world seems to be full of people who don't want to pay. Whether its a borrower who lost interest in repaying their obligations, a commercial tenant who ran out on their lease, a landlord who does not want to pay their broker fee, or all the multifarious permutations of disputes between owners and contractors and subcontractors, employment contracts or consulting agreements, I have prosecuted numerous kinds of breach of contract matters, with a strong record of success in recovery.
MUSIC
As a musician myself with success on the business and creative sides, it was probably inevitable that music related matters became a part of my practice. I have been invovled with various kinds of music matters--from advising clients on publishing deals to drafting contracts for producers to litigating contract disputes and working on record deals. The work I do in the field of music tends to be pretty idiosyncratic with each matter presenting unique circumstances.
